Life in Spokane

I have grown up in Spokane nearly all 21 years of my life. It definitely has it's downsides, but there are also perks. I'll write about one new thing to do per day.

  • Summer Fun
I remember as a kid during the summer, there was never a shortage of things to do. We lived right downtown by Riverfront Park, and you could ride the rides, play in the fountain, ride the carousel, and feed the ducks. There was also Couer d' Alene Lake (Very popular in high school to drive out with friends), and Bear Lake (As long as you didn't swim). We even have hiking right in the valley at Dishman Hills.

I was never really a 'hiker' or 'camper' until I met my husband. Our very first trip, up to Mt. Spokane for a two night camping trip, he tricks me into thinking we have a tent and everything. We ended up stuck in a thunder storm, up on a mountain, in just a hammock. From then on, I have loved camping and hiking with him, we try to go to a couple of new places each year. He is a hoot on camping trips, our engagement trip to Shi Shi is a story for another blog :)

We are excited to get a dog when we move into the new house, we plan on taking it out hiking and camping with us. Also, when we have kids of our own, we plan on starting them on camping before they are 1, so that it will be all they know, and won't be much of a life change to start them off later.

My next post will be about the beautiful PNW Coast, stay tuned!
